The Dane has reportedly completed a medical ahead of his move to Loftus Road on a four-year deal, having already agreed personal terms on a move to Marti Cifuentes’ side.
The Spaniard had reportedly been keen to bolster QPR’s midfield and appears to have settled on Madsen, who moves to English football having built up strong pedigree and attracted considerable interest.
The 24-year-old already has plenty of experience despite his young age and looks set to add some quality in the middle of the park in West London. He started his career at Midtjylland where he spent four years, including one on loan at Dutch side Heerenveen, before making the move to Belgium with Westerlo. It’s here where Madsen has had the most success, with 22 goal involvements in 76 games across the top two divisions for the club, where his contract runs until 2026.
Aside from his club success, the midfielder, who stands at a giant six-foot-four, has plenty of international football under his belt. He has represented Denmark at every youth level up to under-21 but is yet to be capped for the senior side. He also has experience at the top level of club football, having played for his first club in the Champions League.
Should he sign, QPR fans will be hoping Madsen helps to kickstart a Championship season which is yet to really get going. The R’s are currently winless in the league with a draw and a defeat to their name, despite an encouraging second-half performance against Sheffield United. Supporters will be hoping the club’s new signings are influential to any upturn in form, and the prospect of Madsen playing alongside new signing Jonathan Varane in the centre of the park will surely increase optimism around the club ahead of the rest of the campaign.

This would be another great signing for QPR, who are completing some shrewd midfield business this summer. This follows the strategy of signing foreign, younger players to potentially sell for profit, but it’s not only that which will benefit the club. Madsen offers physicality, a high level of experience and a goalscoring threat to the side, and will complement the existing players well, not least compatriot Lucas Andersen. There’s also the managerial factor. Marti Cifuentes has been a hit at Loftus Road, transforming the squad, and it’s scary to think what he can do long-term. If he and the players are given time, the sky is the limit for QPR, and Madsen only adds to the club’s potential.
