BREAKING NEWS:Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sean Dyche announce their departure…

Sean Dyche must consider axing Dominic Calvert-Lewin from his Everton starting XI after his below-par performance against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Englishman had yet another poor outing where he only had one shot throughout the entire game in the Toffees’ 1-0 defeat at St Mary’s Stadium (2 November).

Calvert-Lewin has been Everton’s focal point for a long time but it now feels like it’s getting to a point where things need to change.

Why Beto would be a better option than Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Everton

It’s no secret that Everton’s season hasn’t gone quite to plan despite their summer spending.

Calvert-Lewin’s form hasn’t helped matters much and while the team often looks worse without him leading the line, if Everton want to avoid being dragged into yet another Premier League relegation battle, changes are going to have to be made.

Indeed, Armando Broja is set to return imminently but, looking at his last few seasons of returns, it’s unknown whether his integration into Dyche’s squad will make much of a difference.

As per Sofascore, in the 68 minutes that Calvert-Lewin was on the pitch, he only had 16 touches of the ball and ended the clash with an xG of 0.09.

It doesn’t take a genius to know that an expected goals ratio of 0.09 is far from ideal and is certainly not what you want from your ‘best’ striker.

The one shot he did have in the game was blocked and of the eight passes he attempted, only 50 per cent were accurate.

When compared to Beto who played for 22 minutes, the Guinea-Bissau international amassed an xG of 0.69 and while he only had six touches, the fact he only had ten less than the 27-year-old shows how much more involved he was in the game.
