BREAKING NEWS:Daniel Farke has confirm his decision to sign his resignation letter few minutes ago…

The Whites return to Elland Road after losing their consecutive run of three wins against Blackburn. John Eustace secured a third consecutive win over Daniel Farke since the German became manager at Leeds.

Leeds have slipped to third in the Championship table, the same position the Whites find themselves in at this point last season. The same points (35), same wins, draws and losses (10, 5, 3) and goal scored (31).

David Prutton has predicted a 2-1 Leeds win, as Leeds rekindle their rivalry with Derby four years after last facing The Rams. But Farke may have hinted that he will hand a player his first league start this weekend.

Daniel Farke decision at Blackburn may be a Patrick Bamford hint

What was interesting on Saturday and got lost in the mire of the defeat, was that Farke decided to bring Patrick Bamford off the bench before Mateo Joseph. It was Bamford’s largest league outing of the season.

The one-time England man has been forced to feed off scraps as third-choice striker. Joseph started the season, before Joel Piroe has come in. But neither have really nailed down the position at Elland Road.

Bamford’s nastiness, ability in the air and quality in dictating two centre-backs might just be what Leeds need up top and given he is fit, maybe bringing him on was a hint Bamford will now be used more often.

If Farke was going to hand Bamford a first start of the season, then there are no better opportunities in the foreseeable than a home game against a newly-promoted side, a team Bamford used to play for.

Patrick Bamford’s record against Derby County is impressive

In his career, Bamford has played against former loan side Derby on seven occasions. Three times in a Middlesbrough shirt and four more games with Leeds, winning four times and scoring on two occasions.

Both of Bamford’s goals against Derby came with Middlesbrough during the 2014-15 season, in which he also laid on an assist. Bamford has only started two of the four games he has played against Derby.

It might be that Farke turns to experience in Bamford, with Piroe struggling to make much of an impact in the final third and Joseph scoring just two goals in 18 Championship outing. This time last season, he did.
