Breaking news:Cyriel Dessers rejected terms and conditions, refused contract extension due to A….
St Etienne are unlikely to have the financial muscle to meet the valuation set by Rangers for Cyriel Dessers, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reported on 18 December that the French side may not even be able to agree personal terms given the Nigerian’s wage demands.
It’s understood that the Ibrox outfit are exploring opportunities to cash in on the 30-year-old in January. [TEAMtalk, 17 December]
Rangers have to consider parting ways with Cyriel Dessers
Gers should indeed make a concerted effort to sell Dessers due to his inconsistent performance on the pitch.
Despite his goal tally, the Nigerian has been notably profligate in front of goal, missing several key chances that could have significantly impacted matches.
His overall numbers might suggest competence, but they do not reflect his tendency to underperform in crucial moments, which is a significant drawback for a team aiming for consistent success.
Moreover, with the presence of Hamza Igamane and Danilo, who have shown they are ahead in the pecking order due to their superior play, it’s logical to cash in on Dessers.
This move could not only free up wage space but also potentially fund the acquisition of a new striker who can convert chances more reliably, thereby improving the team’s overall performance.
If Saint Etienne cannot afford him, there will be other players that potentially can and it’s on the decision makers at Ibrox to work their magic.
In other Rangers news, the club are now looking to sign a Chelsea player in January with the club open to offers for him.
