Breaking News:Clement transfer failure highlighted at Rangers few minutes ago
Keith Jackson believes Philippe Clement failed Rangers in the summer transfer window by not signing another striker despite having the opportunity to do so.
Hamza Igamane was brought in for a fee worth around £2million [Football Scotland, 28 June] in a signing that had one eye on the future but Clement but did not bring in a more ready-made option.
Speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (7 October), Jackson shared his thoughts on Clement’s transfer choices.
“He’s had opportunities in the transfer window to do something about it [striker situation] and he’s failed on that front,” Jackson said.
Rangers need reinforcements in January
Rangers’ recruitment came under severe scrutiny during the summer, with younger options brought in but a lack of senior signings made to replace those who had left.
Many were crying out for more reinforcement up front with Cyriel Dessers often a figure of criticism and Danilo having well-documented injury issues, while Igamane is still a work in progress.
New interim chairman John Gilligan spoke to Sky Sports on 24 September and shared that Clement will be given money to spend in January, and another central striker would be top of many fans’ wishlists.

Igamane is fit and raring to go but the assumption that seems to have been made by many is that he’s not quite there yet in terms of leading the Gers’ attacking line.

Bringing in another experienced striker to help Dessers would be an ideal acquisition for Clement and help ease the burden upon the Nigeria international’s shoulders.
