BREAKING NEWS:Brendan Rodgers loses a key player to the transfer window few minutes ago

Having signed four first-team squad members during the summer months, Celtic haven’t been completely inert when it comes to transfers.

There’s been frustration for some supporters that business hasn’t been concluded as quickly as is optimal but the deals for Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo, Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah have all been well received.

Brendan Rodgers has also acknowledged that more work needs to be done. He wants his squad to be stronger than the options he had last season, especially in consideration of entry into an expanded Champions League.

There could be a fair amount of activity in the other direction, too. The manager has also made clear his ideal Celtic squad size and there are several players on the fringes with little chance of regular match action.

What’s the current state of play? Here’s a look at potential incomings and outgoings in the final fortnight of the window.

Potential Celtic signings with five positions targeted

The Sunday Mail reported this weekend that Celtic are still actively hunting for players in five positions – a left-back, a left-sided centre-back, a winger, a striker and a midfielder if Matt O’Riley ends up leaving the club.

That’s an ambitious haul considering there’s not much time before the transfer deadline but it seems there is still intent within the club to do the business necessary.

At left-back, the most credible recent links have been to Owen Beck of Liverpool and Ajax’s Owen Wijndal.

The midfield area has seen Bundesliga talent Arne Engels and Dundee stand-out Luke McCowan emerge as contenders to sign, too.

Those two positions have been the most reported on in terms of active player links, suggesting they are the biggest priorities for the manager.

There’s less noise in the other areas but we know Celtic can pull out a surprise signing or two that goes under the media radar.

Plenty of players could still leave Celtic

Rodgers won’t want to ship out too many players without having confirmed arrivals on their way to Glasgow but it’s fair to say loans and sales are possible.

Sead Haksabanovic, Rocco Vata, Hyeongyu Oh, Marco Tilio, Benjamin Siegrist, Dane Murray, Bosun Lawal and Hyeokkyu Kwon have all left the club on a variety of permanent and temporary deals, so work has been done on this front.

Joining them could be Mikey Johnston, who Rodgers admitted on Friday will be looking for more regular football his season.
