BREAKING NEWS:Brendan Rodgers announce the departure of James Forrest few minutes ago
Hugo Bueno is back on Celtic’s radar as the champions make a fresh bid to sign the left-back on loan, according to a report.
The Wolves defender was wanted back in January but a deal couldn’t be struck with the Molineux club. Now the BBC report that the Hoops are trying again as they look to add competition for Greg Taylor for the upcoming campaign. Talks are ongoing with the English Premier League outfit, who have Rayan Ait-Nouri as their first choice left back ahead of Bueno.
Celtic are hopeful that Gary O’Neil is willing to let the 21-year-old Spaniard leave, even if only on a temporary basis. It’s claimed Norwich City had a loan offer for Bueno rejected, with the Spain U21 international currently with Wolves on their pre-season tour of America. Given Celtic are also Stateside, that may make the logistics of doing a deal slightly easier.
The player himself insists he is prepared to fight for his first team place, although admitted to the Express and Star that O’Neil’s change of defensive shape harmed his playing chances last season. He said: “Last season we started with a back four and I felt really comfortable, then we changed to a back five and sometimes you have to adapt quickly. Hopefully in this new season, with more time with the coaches, I can get more information on the things that they want.
“I’m really happy and motivated about the new season and let’s see what happens. One good thing about me is I always find that motivation. It doesn’t matter the situation that I’m in, sometimes things happen, injuries and setbacks.
“But I think everything happens for a reason and I always try to stay motivated and keep working hard. Hopefully I get more chances, play well and keep improving, those are the most important things.”
