BREAKING NEWS; Rabbi Matondo rejected Blackburn Rovers terms and conditions insisted leaving due to

Blackburn Rovers target Rabbi Matondo is expected to stay at Rangers despite transfer interest claims Philippe Clement.

Blackburn Rovers are looking to add the finishing touches to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline day later this week.

John Eustace’s side have got off to a good start this season, something which many feared would not happen after the year they had last season.

Losing star man Sammie Szmodics will no doubt leave a hole in the Rovers squad, but they do appear to have handled the departure well so far.

Matondo has been of interest to Eustace this summer with the Rangers attacker linked with a transfer away from Ibrox, but now it seems a departure is not as guaranteed as first thought.

Rangers boss Clement has told the Daily Record that whilst he cannot rule out a departure, he expects Matondo to be at the club next week. He said:

“We will see this week but I think that at the moment the situation is that Rabbi will be with us next week, and that is what I want also. But if somebody comes in with enough money then the club will always be open for talks.”

So far in the league for Rangers this season he has two goals and two assists in three games.

The versatile forward can play on either wing or through the middle and last season registered eight goal contributions in 19 Scottish top flight outings.

Matondo came through the ranks at Manchester City where he was quite a prolific goalscorer, and the Liverpool-born attacker has since become a Welsh international.

A deal is possible before Friday, but Rangers don’t appear pressured to sell and that means it may take quite a hefty bid to tempt them in the coming days.
