Breaking news: Philippe Clement confirm a perfect replacement for Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers….

Cyriel Dessers may leave Rangers with the club eyeing a move for striker Iqraam Rayners, according to Soccernet.ng.

The news outlet reported on 20 December that with the South Africa international on the radar, Dessers could be made redundant.

He already finds himself behind Hamza Igamane and Danilo in the pecking order and his last start for the club was on 23 November when he was subbed off at half-time against Dundee United.

Rangers can use the Cyriel Dessers money to fund a new striker transfer

Given Gers’ current financial situation, selling Dessers could provide a much-needed influx of funds to facilitate the transfer of Rayners.

The Nigerian’s position in the squad has diminished, with him being behind Igamane and Danilo in the pecking order, and his last start was notably unproductive, suggesting a potential move could be beneficial for all parties.

By capitalising on Dessers’ sale, Rangers could not only finance Rayners’ acquisition but also strategically enhance their squad.

However, while Rayners, at 29, brings experience and recent form, the club should also consider investing in younger, proven European talent.

This approach would not only secure future squad depth but also align with long-term financial planning by potentially increasing player value over time.

Younger players could offer longevity, growth potential and adaptability to the club’s evolving tactics, ensuring the Ibrox outfit remain competitive and financially stable in the long run.

In other Rangers news, Nils Koppen is now being forced to enter the loan market to sign a Liverpool-born striker in January.
