Breaking News: Philippe Clement announce a perfect replacement for Jack Butland….
Jack Butland has really shown how good he is since he joined Rangers.
The former England goalkeeper has to be considered one of the only shining lights of the Michael Beale era and he has come into his own as Ibrox number one.
Some monumental saves both domestically and on the European stage have only shown the 31-year-old’s importance to the team and club as a whole.
So when he was posted missing for the Dundee game yesterday afternoon, there might have been some cause for concern.
Manager Philippe Clement cleared up Butland’s absence as down to “personal reasons” and that it would only be short-term but Gers still needed a replacement on the day.
And Liam Kelly had the “dream” debut many years after having been on the books as a kid.
The former Motherwell star played as Butland’s deputy and the 28-year-old has explained how his time with his teammate on the training pitch has been valuable to him.
Liam Kelly feels Butland is the best goalkeeper in the league
Kelly believes Butland is the best stopper in the Scottish Premiership and that he shows his talents every day even at Auchenhowie outside of official matches.
And for Kelly, that is another reason why he feels his pal is the best to do it in this country because he is always switched on.
Butland is a winner and, as his mate says, he has everything needed to be a top keeper.
Though it is the entire goalkeeping group at Rangers who have made each other better.
Where Butland’s stats compare to top Premiership goalkeepers
“I’ve really enjoyed working with Jack,” he said.
“He’s an unbelievable goalie, he’s definitely the best goalkeeper in the league for me. He’s got everything when I train with him. Obviously, I’ve worked with a lot of goalies in my time.
“Really good taking cross balls, really good kicker, great shot-stopper, great communicator, right foot, left foot.
“I am a huge fan of him. Really good guy, we’ve got a good relationship. The goalkeeping group is really close and really strong.
“We do a lot of work with Colin Stewart, the goalie coach. Mason Munn and Lewis Budinauckas are in training as well. The goalie department is in a good place.”
