BREAKING NEWS; Newcastle United has signed their dream player finally
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed on-loan Newcastle United defender Miodrag Pivas is well placed to return to the club next year after work permit problems.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – revealed his contact in the Netherlands has branded the 19-year-old a “proper player”.
Pivas was loaned to Willem II in the Eredivisie after signing for Newcastle in the summer but was unable to play or train in his early weeks at the club.
He has now received a work permit and made his first appearance in the Dutch top flight against PSV on 28 September.
The Serbia youth international has received glowing reviews from Nemanja Matic, who compared the youngster to ex-Chelsea star Branislav Ivanovic and former Man United defender Nemanja Vidic.
On-loan Newcastle ace Pivas could return to the club next year, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think he’ll be able to come back to Newcastle next year.
“He’s now playing for Willem II in the Netherlands, his issues with work permits have been resolved.
“He’s been selected for the national team setup in Serbia as well.
“Pivas will be playing at a good level, getting good experience – and that’s what a normal 19-year-old signing would be doing anyway.
“I think it will work out okay for him.
“I called my contact in Holland about him, and he says he is looking like a proper player.
“It could be a really good signing for Newcastle going forward.”
