BREAKING NEWS :Leicester City vs Everton match Kick-off reschedule due to..
Kevin Thelwell has shared the latest on the situation surrounding Dele Alli and revealed he would “dearly love” to see him play for Everton.
The 28-year-old has been training with the Blues after the expiry of his contract this summer and could be re-signed with a space available for Alli in the 25-man Premier League squad.
Giulia Bould quizzed the Everton chief for BBC Sport [20 September] about the former Tottenham man and whether the supporters can expect Alli to wear the famous blue shirt this season.
He said: “We very much hope so, I mean he’s worked and he’s continued to work very, very hard on the pitch to get himself into a place where he can physically get to playing. Our medical and sports science teams and the coaching teams are also working very, very hard with him. To try and get him in a space where he can get to play for Everton Football Club.
“We’re in a good space now with Spurs, we’ve got an agreement in place with those guys about what happens next if we re-sign him. He would dearly love to play for Everton in the Premier League and we’d dearly love that to happen as well because the boy’s had a very, very difficult time.
“So at this moment we’re not saying too much about him because we just want to keep the pressure off him but hopefully in due course he’ll get back to that space and we can get to see him do what he does best.”
Dele Alli will get his football lifeline at Everton
Alli, regardless of how the remaining years of his career pans out, will arguably go down as one of the biggest enigmas in English football.
