Breaking News: Leeds united has finally confirm the departure of Ryan Kent due to…
Leeds United will be automatic promotion “certainties” if they add another free agent to their squad, amid ongoing links with Ryan Kent.
The former Rangers player is available for free after having his contract with Turkish side Fenerbahce terminated 16 months into a four-year contract.
Kent is available to join a new club from January, with Leeds United one of numerous clubs credited with an interest.
And while Goodman accepts there are concerns as to why Kent was not wanted by Fenerbahce, he believes any sort of additions to the squad will only further strengthen Leeds’ top-two prospects.
“Leeds have been hit by injuries this season and it’s about covering all bases for them in signing players who will help shoot them up the Championship,” he told MOT Leeds News.
“Leeds need to build on what they have, which is arguably the strongest side in the Championship, and you’d imagine they’d be certainties to finish in the top two if they add another player.
“Ryan Kent was a high-level operator in the SPL and was sought after by some top clubs during his time at Rangers, so the talent is clearly there, but I’m not sure if that consistency is still there – why else would he be without a club?
“There’s always a balance to be had. If a player is out of form but used to be good, do you gamble on that?”
Leeds United can add further attacking depth with Ryan Kent
As the recent addition of Josuha Guilavogui goes to show, there are plenty of excellent players out there without clubs.
Many will see Kent as a has-been, as it were, as he has gone entirely off the radar since his time in England and then north of the border with Rangers.
