Breaking News: Leeds and Nottingham face potential transfer battle for Lawrence Shankland

Nottingham Forest made 11 signings in the summer transfer window, and it looks as if they tried to make a 12th but it didn’t come off.

Nuno Espirito Santo has relied heavily on Chris Wood to score goals for his side this season, as Taiwo Awoniyi is not the same player he was last season due to injury issues.

The New Zealand international has three goals in six appearances for Forest.

However, the pair weren’t able to have an effect on the game against Fulham, with fans taking to X to share their disappointment with Awoniyi in particular.

It looks like missing out on a top-quality striker in the summer could be a slight worry.

Interestingly, it has now come out that Nottingham Forest did submit a bid for a striker, but nothing ended up coming of it.

Santiago Gimenez confirms bid from Nottingham Forest

Santiago Gimenez is now expected to miss three months of football after picking up an injury.

He recently revealed why he rejected Nottingham Forest, with the option of teams like Atletico Madrid, but he ultimately ended up staying in Holland.

It now looks as if Forest went as far as tabling a bid for the striker.

Speaking to La Última Palabra (via Record), Santiago Gimenez confirmed that an offer was on the table.

“We believed that it was the perfect time to leave after two years in the Netherlands; in the end, there were things that were not in our hands.

“There were two offers on the table, the one that aired was that of Nottingham and the reality is that we were with many doubts, but in the end we decided to stay at Feyenoord primarily for the Champions League.”

His overall record at Feyenoord is 53 goals and 13 assists in 93 appearances.

Of course, Forest could do with his goalscoring qualities, but the fact that he’s just suffered a long-term injury will come as a huge relief.
