Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare for 2024/25 Premier League campaign
Owner Evangelos Marinakis has delivered a powerful rallying cry to the Nottingham Forest dressing room ahead of their forthcoming Premier League campaign.
The Reds are aiming to push on in the top-flight this term under the stewardship of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. After successive relegation battles since their return to the elite level of English football, avoiding another survival scrap is the goal this time around.
Their pre-season friendlies so far have shown positive signs of what Forest are capable of with Nuno at the helm. And with less than three weeks to go before the serious action begins, Marinakis has told the squad they must “never give up”.
The Greek was in attendance for the Reds’ friendly against Elche on Friday night as Nuno’s men signed off their training camp in Spain with a defeat. It was their first loss of the summer, having already recorded wins over Chesterfield and Millwall and drawn with Sunderland.
After the game against the Spanish outfit at the Pinatar Arena, Marinakis spent an hour chatting to the players, coaching staff and backroom staff. According to the club, he is said to have delivered a “key message of unity and togetherness”.
Forest said: “The address (by Marinakis) focussed on the value of the family bond and team spirit that has continued to strengthen within the group. He emphasised the transformative power of unity and urged the group to fight, survive and win, with a collective promise to never give up.”
Marinakis went on to have dinner with Nuno, chief football officer Ross Wilson and head of football operations Ed Henderson. It is said the quartet discussed plans for the 2024/25 season in “meticulous detail”.
