James Forrest will earn more minutes for Celtic in their crucial double-deciding run-in.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton praised Forrest, 32, for his “incredible” ability to break back into the Hoops’ starting line-up this season.
The Scotland international has made just two league starts this season amid injury issues and Celtic’s strengthening in the wide areas.
However, he notched a match-winning brace against Dundee on Sunday (28 April) to secure a 2-1 win and the Hoops’ second strike in their Scottish Cup semi-final triumph last month (20 April).
Forrest to play crucial role in Celtic run-in – Hutton
Hutton put Forrest’s reemergence into the starting line-up down to his impressive work ethic and experience and tipped the winger to play a crucial role for Brendan Rodgers’ side for the rest of the campaign.
“I think Forrest will be playing more and he’s been showing his quality in recent weeks,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s starting games more now and we know what he’s capable of.
“Him not getting so much game time shows how much quality Celtic have on the wings in the team
.“They’ve brought in the likes of Nicolas Kuhn to replace him, so to speak, but he’s now right back in the fold.
“He knows what it takes to get a club like Celtic over the line and win trophies.
