BREAKING NEW;Anthony Gordon rejected Newcastle United contract agreement insisted leaving

Newcastle United could suddenly be about to extend Anthony Gordon’s contract.

It was reported after Euro 2024 that Newcastle United wanted to talk to Gordon about a new deal, with the 23-year-old’s current contract running until 2026.

A fresh deal would be a chance for Newcastle United to show Anthony Gordon some love, and prove how important he is to the St James’ Park project in the aftermath of his failed move to Liverpool.

Geordie Boot Boys were told this week that Gordon is open to signing a new Newcastle contract, but some issues emerged.

It was reported on Thursday that Gordon was not happy with what Newcastle were offering, with progress described as ‘slow’.

However, the situation has now changed.

The Daily Mail reported that Gordon was suddenly close to signing a new contract with Newcastle United.

Elsewhere, Luke Edwards has provided an update on the situation after writing about Gordon’s future for the Telegraph on Thursday.

Edwards posted on X: “Anthony Gordon is on the brink of signing new contract after lowering wage demands as per @CraigHope_DM. Will not become the club’s top earner which was initial demand but significant pay rise on offer. That’s one issue resolved. Needs to repay faith shown in him as it’s been a distraction.”

Edwards has noted that Gordon had initially wanted to become Newcastle United’s highest earner, as he aimed to secure a wage package worth more than what Bruno Guimaraes receives at St James’ Park.

It had been reported that Newcastle would make Gordon their highest earner, but perhaps that was wishful thinking from the 23-year-old’s camp.

Regardless, a pay rise is coming his way, and it is good to know that this situation is going to be resolved.
