BREAKING NEWS;The Leeds manager is cleared to pursue a significant transfer target…
Leeds United defender Joe Rodon was “delighted” after the 2-0 win against Sheffield United at Elland Road on 18 October.
Daniel Farke’s side were able to inflict defeat on Sheffield United for the first time this season, righting the wrongs that occurred in the draw at Sunderland.
Goals from Mateo Joseph and Pascal Struijk secured all three points for Leeds, however, Rodon was particularly pleased with the way his side defended.
Speaking to LUTV, Rodon said: “What happened just before the break, we were very disappointed and all of us as a group, we weren’t satisfied so it was important to be in front of our home fans and put on a show for them and a strong performance and I thought we did that.
“At the end of the day, if you don’t concede goals, you’re going to win games so we’re delighted to get back on the clean sheets.
“The whole squad, everyone is working hard together and we’re all one team so we know it’s a very long season and a tough season so we’re gonna need everyone and like I said, the recovery starts tonight and we’ll be ready for Tuesday.”
Leeds United make a statement in Championship
The 2-0 victory was huge for several reasons.
First, it allows the two dropped points away to Sunderland to be forgotten for now after Illan Meslier’s howler that gifted the Black Cats a route back into the game.
However, perhaps most importantly, the victory allowed Leeds to stamp their authority on the Championship against a side that had not suffered a league defeat until that night.
Previously, Leeds had failed to beat any of the sides they had played in the top six, raising a few concerns about their promotion credentials however those concerns have been wiped away.
