Bowen may have cost Lopetegui his West Ham job after what he did v Arsenal
Jarrod Bowen’s lack of impact in attack for West Ham in their Premier League clash against Arsenal on Saturday could well be the final nail in the coffin for Julen Lopetegui’s job.
The Hammers faced Mikel Arteta’s men on 30 November and were defeated 5-2 on home turf in what was a rather embarrassing outing.
They remain 14th in the Premier League, and their hopes of finishing the season in the European places seem to be getting further and further away.
West Ham’s poor result against the Gunners can be drawn down due to a couple of things but one of them will undoubtedly be the lack of attacking threat from Bowen, who toiled but didn’t do enough in the final third.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live in quotes relayed by the BBC Sport website (30 November, 18:48pm), pundit Andy Reid shared his thoughts on the performance of the Englishman.
“We have not mentioned Jarrod Bowen too much. He’s really effective and been brilliant for West Ham,” he said.
“It is probably credit to Arsenal that we’ve not mentioned Bowen.”
Jarrod Bowen is key to the Premier League survival of West Ham
This season, most, if not all, of West Ham’s team have underperformed across all areas this season which has resulted in fans wanting a lot more from their team.
The fact that the Hammers sit 14th in the top flight and have shown no real signs of making their way back up the table should be a cause for concern for all those involved with the team.
Of course, they’re not expected to beat every single opponent they face but it feels like there should at least be a lot more positive results coming their way, especially with the amount of money they spent in the summer.
