Adrian Bevington welcomes Rangers approach in new appointment update at Ibrox

Adrian Bevington would welcome an approach from Rangers chief John Bennett to discuss the CEO position at Ibrox, according to The Scottish Sun.

 

The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (11 September) that the 53-year-old would be interested in succeeding James Bisgrove after he left Ibrox in a surprise move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Bevington who was previously the English FA’s former head of communications, but is now currently working for a German football agency after spells at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

 

The former FA chief has previously shown his desire to work in the Scottish game and even openly discussed the vacant role on the blue side of Glasgow [The Go Radio Football Show, 5 September].

Over the last few years, it has been clear that Rangers are lacking some genuine football men in their ranks at Ibrox, with a lot of the decision-makers in the football club coming from a business background rather than a sporting one.

That has left an awful lot of pressure on Philippe Clement to shoulder the burden of responsibility when the Light Blues have looked miles away from Celtic on the pitch over the course of his first season in charge.

 

The manager needs support and the only way in which he is going to get that will be if the Gers actually take the decision to appoint more people in positions of power who have experience at the top levels of the game.

Bevington is exactly that sort of character. His CV speaks for itself and he has an obvious desire to work north of the border which simply cannot be sniffed at, particularly now that other leagues all around the world are becoming more financially powerful.
