Adam Idah in ‘lacked respect’ Celtic vs Falkirk message

Adam Idah concedes he and his Celtic teammates showed Falkirk a lack of respect ahead of today’s Scottish League Cup quarter-final.Celtic were on a high from their Champions League win in midweek and they would have wanted a fairly quiet afternoon following the emotions of Wednesday night.

 

But after 11 minutes, the away side were ahead after some poor defending and a pin-point finish from Ross Maciver on the edge of the box.

 

You would have thought that a lot would need to be done to beat that goal, in terms of quality, but after just ten minutes Paulo Bernardo answered that call.Bernardo has been pretty unlucky not to be starting games for Celtic, but that’s what happens when you pay a club-record transfer for Arne Engels.

 

After a cross into the box, which was cushioned down by Alex Valle with a header, Bernardo volleyed the ball with precision and power into the back of the net.

 

Charlie Mulgrew used two words to describe the goal and simply stated it was ‘unbelievable quality’ from the 22-year-old.Bernardo ended up playing the full 90 minutes, with Mulgrew adding that Falkirk were ‘unlucky’ they were on the end of such quality, as he told Premier Sports (22/09/24 at 3:55 pm).

“He would have scored this goal against anybody, this is the quality Celtic have,” said Mulgrew about Bernardo’s goal.

 

“They keep the ball in the air, but what a finish that is. He keeps his eyes on the ball and strikes this thing. Unbelievable quality. I don’t think Falkirk can do anything about it. They are a bit unlucky there.”But, at the end of the day, you will always get these types of matches now and again during the season, so it should be taken as a plus.

A much-needed week of rest for the team, before an away clash against St Johnstone in the league and then Celtic’s all-important showdown at Borussia Dortmund.

 

That’s going to be a huge test for the team and just what they can produce in this much-changed and revamped Champions League format.
