I WILL NOT PLAY AGAIN;Leicester City best player has decided to quit his career…
When the fixture list was released in June, the run of four games from the start of October were picked out as a key moment for Leicester City.
Arriving into that run without a win after a tough start to the campaign, the importance of the next few fixtures has risen. For belief in Steve Cooper and City’s survival hopes, at least a couple of victories are needed against Bournemouth, Southampton, Nottingham Forest, and Ipswich.
Ahead of those games, we have taken supporters’ questions, looking at team selection, creativity, slow starts, Ricardo Pereira’s lack of minutes, Cooper’s tactics, and more. You can read our answers below.
Q: What is the solution to creating more goal-scoring opportunities with the squad we have? If you were given the opportunity to pick the side against Bournemouth, who would you pick to give us the greatest chance of a win? And where would the goals come from?
A: The straightforward solution is to get more attacking players on the pitch. The squad is flush with creative options, rather than goalscorers, so it’s about getting those players onto the pitch to create chances for Vardy and Mavididi.
Vardy’s had just three shots in the first six games, which is not enough for a lead striker. There are nuances to that in that he’s not the sort of player to have a potshot from 20 yards. He will wait until he has an excellent opportunity to score. But I feel like the best way for City to create chances for him regularly is to get El Khannouss and Buonanotte on the pitch.
Cooper has said himself that there are players that need to build connections with each other, but they’re not going to do that if they’re sat on the bench. I think they need to get Buonanotte and El Khannouss on the same wavelength and then on the same wavelength as Vardy
