CONFIRMED REPORT;Everton confirms the replacement of Jarrad Branthwaite’s after Newcastle clash
Everton head into this weekend’s clash with Newcastle slightly weakened from last week as Jarrad Branthwaite is set to miss out.
Jarrad Branthwaite was only back for one game and already made a big difference, installing a sense of calm at the back.
But, in typical Everton fashion, he’s now set to return after the international break after picking up a slight injury ahead of the Newcastle clash.
Everton fans were far from happy with the injury news, as they took to X to share their disgust, just as things were starting to look up.
Sean Dyche now has a big decision to make regarding who he uses as the replacement for Branthwaite, with Jake O’Brien and Michael Keane the two most likely options.
Interestingly, Everton fans all share the same opinion on the matter.
Michael Keane or Jake O’Brien to replace Jarrad Branthwaite
Michael Keane has had a rather disappointing start to the season with a number of disappointing performances that have seen fans turn on him at times.
Andy Townsend even stated that Keane looked like a nervous wreck against Bournemouth.
Jake O’Brien has only featured once in the Premier League due to Dyche opting for Keane and Branthwaite when he returned.
It’s strange to see him used so little after joining for £17 million in the summer.
Everton fans pick their Branthwaite replacement vs Newcastle
These Everton fans, when speaking on X in response to Jake O’Brien’s post, all said the same thing about wanting the summer signing to replace Branthwaite.
“Keep working hard, Jake.. hopefully you’ll get your chance on Saturday.”, @Vaughanie10 said.
@Kavanagh_MK tried to motivate him: “Get your self in that side Saturday and make a name for yourself kid, for all our sakes.”
@toffelew stated: “Should be starting Saturday given Branthwaite is now injured, so long as Dyche regains his senses.”
@saywattharry mentioned: “Your time Saturday, Jake.”
