SO SAD:Cyriel Dessers rejected terms and conditions and insisted leaving suddenly…

Cyriel Dessers has reminded Rangers’ critics the league “is not lost or won” in the first month – insisting their best is yet to come.

The Ibrox striker says Philippe Clement’s side have taken strides forward since their Celtic Park humbling four weeks ago – and have learned lessons from that 3-0 defeat.

Rangers sit third and trail Glasgow rivals Celtic and Aberdeen by five points after just six games. That’s led to pressure increasing on Clement and his players. But a four-game winning run without conceding a goal has restored confidence among Dessers and his team mates ahead of the visit of French giants Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday night.

“A start like this helps, but obviously you need to stay fit, so you keep playing games. And then hopefully the goals will follow if I do my job for the team.

“It’s decent form. I’m happy with those stats. A few assists as well, so I think I’m in a good moment right now.

“I’ve got good momentum, but I just want to keep going. Obviously, you want more than this. But I’m happy. It’s good to start a season like this. I want to keep building on this.

Dessers was on target as Rangers celebrated a happy homecoming victory back at Ibrox. Having spent the first six weeks of the season locked out of their own stadium following a construction cock-up on the Copland Road end, Clement’s team were quick to settle in as they swept past Tony Docherty’s Dark Blues..
