Tom Lawrence could be in Rangers trouble amid latest Ianis Hagi development at Ibrox
Tom Lawrence could lose his starting XI place at Rangers after Ianis Hagi returned to Rangers training.
The Welshman scored a top-class goal on Sunday (29 September) against Hibernian to secure three points for the Gers in a 1-0 win.
This was the 30-year-old’s fifth start of the season and his third goal in what has been a positive start to the campaign, matching his tally from last season already.
Despite this positive opening to the season, with Hagi returning to the fold at Auchenhowie, the former Derby County man could be forced out of the starting XI.
Tom Lawrence could lose Rangers spot to Ianis Hagi
The Romania international has finally returned to first-team training, putting an end to a stand-off between the club and player [The Rangers Review].
Philippe Clement had admitted that the decision not to play the attacking midfielder hadn’t been entirely his, but now it looks like Hagi will be returning to his squad.
It may take some time for the 25-year-old to come up to match speed but once he does, he could become an integral force in the Light Blues’ side.
If the former Alaves loanee wants to feature in the number 10 role, Lawrence could be dropped in the future to accommodate the returning ace.
After a superb EUROs campaign, there was hope among fans that Hagi would return to Ibrox and become a key player and fulfil his potential.
His return can only be a positive for the club as a whole but the Romanian will have to take someone’s place, with Lawrence a possible fall guy.
