Breaking News:Sam Lammers backer blasts Rangers squad as teammates ‘did not support’ Ibrox flop
Rangers hero Michael Mols reckons flop Sam Lammers had no support from his Ibrox teammates.
The Dutchman departed the club on a £2.7million deal to FC Twente yesterday evening, bringing an end to his disappointing year-long stint in Glasgow. The 27-year-old managed just two goals from his 31 appearances for the Light Blues before he would leave on loan and do well in the Netherlands with Utrecht.
For Mols, though, his countryman never had the same backing from his Gers teammates that he did back when he turned out for the club and that’s why he failed to cut the mustard in Scottish football.
“I think it is a shame that he did not succeed at Rangers,” Mols told ESPN. “In my time I had players around me who supported me, he did not have that. So it was a lot harder for him.”
Rangers had to divide their fee between PSV and Willem II due to compensation rules but Mols believes it was the right time for the player to leave.
“No (it’s not too soon for him to go), Scottish football is simply not for him,” the ex-striker added. “He is much better suited to the Netherlands, as we have seen again at Utrecht. And Twente is a step up.”
