SHOCKING NEWS: LEEDS PLAYMAKER HAS SIGNED A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT TO EXTEND HIS STAY
Leeds United centre-back Max Wöber may have to undergo surgery on his meniscus injury soon, should it not recover.
The Whites have started somewhat slowly in the Championship this season, with Daniel Farke’s side yet to reach top speed despite three wins from six games.
Up next is a home clash against Coventry City, who are struggling a great deal more than Leeds as they sit low down in the bottom half.
A report from Peter Linden now claims that Leeds may need to book Austrian centre-back Max Wöber in for surgery, if his injury doesn’t recover properly.
The defender was suffering from a meniscus issue recently, and it is how suggested that an operation is being discussed, having been out of the squad for games against Burnley and Cardiff City:
“Wöber, who was Austria’s best defender in the 1:1 in Slovenia, but was missing ‘stricken’ against Norway, was not in the squad in any September game of Leeds United.
“Because of a meniscus injury. An operation is up for discussion.”
With a meniscus injury in the knee, Wöber’s may not heal on its own if it is a significant tear to the area, meaning surgery may be the only option.
Wöber’s knee issue could be a worry soon for Leeds
Thankfully, Wöber isn’t a starter for Leeds so we don’t have to stress about his starting prospects due to this injury.
However, an operation on his meniscus would have him ruled out for a significant period, and leave us very short at the back.
The last thing we need is Ethan Ampadu having to drop into centre-back again off the back of a major injury.
