Breaking News:Rangers are set to bring him back

The Rangers squad has finally begun to settle after a hectic summer of change with players coming in and out of the club.

 

Nils Koppen was tasked with overseeing the rebuild of an ageing squad whilst also cutting the club’s overinflated wage bill

There have been a number of positives for those who’ve come into the building whilst those who have remained at Rangers slowly begin to win back favour with the fans.

 

One such player – who was subject to a summer of exit reports – has once again shown his qualities at Rangers and insists he’s happy at Ibrox.

Cyriel Dessers delighted after Dundee double

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers played a starring role as Dundee were dispatched 3-0 in the Premier Sports Cup on the club’s return to Ibrox.

The Nigerian international striker scored twice and won a penalty for Rangers which was hammered home by James Tavernier.

 

The Rangers number nine has not been without his critics over 12 months in Glasgow but banged in his sixth and seventh goals of a productive season to date.

 

But had things gone differently, Dessers might’ve moved on from Rangers this summer.

The subject of swirling transfer interest from Greece, Italy, Saudi Arabia and most recently the MLS, an exit never materialised.

 

And on the club’s return to Ibrox, it was Dessers who once again proved to be Rangers’ main man in front of goal.

 

Picking up the Player of the Match award come full-time, the thoroughly likeable Dessers suggested there’s nowhere he’d rather be.

“I really enjoyed tonight,” Dessers told Premier Sports. “It was good to be back here at Ibrox.

 

“A real cup night, have a good win, I scored two goals, yeah, I’m a happy man.

 

“To be the number nine at Rangers, score goals at Ibrox. Happy days, I’m a happy man.”

 

Rangers striker hungry for more

Now in his second season at Rangers, Cyriel Dessers is tasked with leading the Ibrox club’s title charge.

Asked about his more settled role in the Rangers team, Dessers admits that he’s feeling the benefit of experience in Glasgow.

 

But that doesn’t mean he’s finished growing just yet with the striker having his eyes firmly set on more.

 

“I think so,” Dessers said when asked if he was feeling the benefit of being in his second season. “I think those things were important.

 

“You have a calm summer, you can build on things, you have a full preparation.
