Breaking News:Rangers may be putting cash together for new manager appointment already

Rangers appear to be putting their foot on the gas as they look for yet another new manager appointment after the sacking of Michael Beale.

Steven Davis has been put in temporary charge alongside Alex Rae with games against Aris Limassol and St Mirren coming thick and fast.

With the international break to follow though, James Bisgrove has already made his first move with contact made over Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe [Daily Record].

The newspaper has reported on its website that the Ibrox chief has made tentative enquiries over how much it could cost to get Lowe out of his contract at Deepdale.

Even if the appointment isn’t made until the international break, movement in the Rangers boardroom suggests that the cash may be readied to make a move as soon as possible.

Lowe isn’t a massive name but has guided Preston to their best start in the Championship in nearly 100 years, sitting third in the division.

If this was the road that Rangers go down, they clearly have learned nothing at all from the small tenure of Beale, who also came from a similar route.

Lowe has more experience in the lower leagues of English football, tasting success at Plymouth before Preston, but nothing that will prepare him for the magnitude of the job at Ibrox.

Bisgrove is in charge of appointing his first manager in Govan, and he will not likely have to make a bigger decision again, such is the magnitude of this.

A big character is needed, someone who can grab the club and players by the scruff of the neck to turn it around, with Beale clearly lacking inspiration and the ability to do that.

The money may be nearly ready to go, but it has to be on the right manager.
