Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Celtic should explore building a “multi-club organisation” after another year of healthy financial results.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted both the Hoops and Rangers should explore adding additional clubs to their stable.
The Scottish champions posted documents revealing the state of their 2023-24 accounts on Monday (16 September), showing their year-end cash rose from £72.3million in 2022-23 to £77.2million last season.
Celtic’s revenue also rose from £119.9million to a new club-record £124.6million – marking a 3.9 per cent increase on the previous year.
The Hoops are also set for a healthy cash boost this term due to their participation in the new-look, money-spinning Champions League format.
English clubs like Man City, Brighton and Crystal Palace have taken advantage of multi-club ownership to good effect in recent years.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t know what Celtic’s major plan is.
“I’m surprised they haven’t built up a big multi-club organisation.
It seems sensible to me. It gives them a chance to spend some of these reserves and create a much bigger asset for the club in general.
“It would give them the chance to tap into this major global fanbase.

“It’s the same for Rangers, I don’t know why it hasn’t been done.
These are the questions which have to be asked of these clubs.”
