Kentucky football came close to a historic upset on Saturday night. The Wildcats stood toe-to-toe with the No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs for 60 minutes at Kroger Field in Lexington, but Kirby Smart’s team ultimately outlasted Mark Stoops’ squad by a 13-12 score. Georgia scored the game’s only touchdown early in the fourth quarter when Branson Robinson scored on a 3-yard run. Georgia also had two field goals, while UK settled for four field goals as part of its upset bid.
Afterward, Smart spoke to media members at Kroger Field to talk about the close call, remaining undefeated on the 2024 season and facing a pair of Georgia transfers in first-year Kentucky players quarterback Brock Vandagriff and linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson, among other topics.
