The amount Celtic have earned for winning their opening Champions League tie can be revealed.

Financially, it’s all positive news. Celtic have earned €2.1m (£1.77m) for the win.
Celtic have banked €18.62m (£15.7m) simply from being involved in the league phase of the Champions League.
But the aforementioned amount is the fee dished out for wins in the tournament, with €700k (£590k) pocketed for draws.

Additionally, each club will earn at least €275k for their league phase campaign – and for every position above 36th, another €275k will be added to the bonus.
The combined Champions League prize pool sits at an eye-watering €2.467bn this season.
For context, the winners of the Scottish Premiership title pocket just £4.2m in prize money after an entire season’s graft.
