Breaking News:Ianis Hagi doubles down on Rangers future as inclusion ‘expectation’ detailed
Ianis Hagi expects his performances for Romania to get him back into the Rangers team.
Philippe Clement has made it clear the player does not feature in his plans despite still being at Ibrox after the transfer window closed. Hagi hasn’t kicked a ball for Gers in around a year and spent most of last season on loan at Alaves. It was hoped by the player and some fans that he could work his way back into the picture upon his return.
But that hasn’t happened and Clement was keen to offload the high-earning attacking midfielder permanently during the summer to free up funds and space for a rebuild. There was interest, including from his homeland, but no move materialised.
Hagi has been training and playing with the B team but despite that was still called up by his country during the international break. Not only that, but he showed Gers what they were missing with a starring show off the bench against Lithuania.
He’s repeatedly stated his determination to stay at Rangers and fight for his place. He’s now doubled down on that in a statement released by his representatives, AC Talent.
They told Digi Sport: “Ianis will not be leaving Rangers and is fighting to earn his place in the first team. We expect his developments with the national team to be an argument for his inclusion in the club squad.”
Clement was quizzed on the 25-year-old again yesterday and said: “I said these things already the last time, the situation didn’t change. It’s not only my decision in that way. So we will see what the future will bring there.”
