DEAL CONFIRMED;Ex-Celtic star Daizen Maeda has signed a deal with Rangers
He believes the Rangers boss will have learned a few home truths about his team after the recent Old Firm thrashing.
IT was a defeat that saw angry Rangers fans turn on James Tavernier.
And Scott Allan insists Tannadice won’t be an easy venue for the Ibrox captain to bounce back from his Old Firm nightmare.
The midfielder played for Hibs the day under-fire Tavernier made a scoring debut for Gers at Easter Road in 2015, in a 6-2 rout.
Now at Kelty Hearts, Allan believes the Ibrox skipper must recover from his Hoops horror show, after being torn apart by Daizen Maeda in the 3-0 defeat.
That saw Gers supporters abuse Tavernier, 32, at Ibrox when the team returned after their Celtic Park loss.
Ex-Celtic ace Allan expects another of his old clubs Dundee United to pile the pressure on Gers this weekend.
Victory for the Terrors would see Jim Goodwin’s newly-promoted United side open up a four-point gap over Philippe Clement’s side.
Allan, 32, said: “I saw what happened after the Celtic game, and first and foremost, I don’t feel like it was supporters who drove down to Ibrox to do it.
“It was probably fans who had been at Edmiston House watching the game, and it’s easy to walk out and have your say.
“A fixture of that magnitude has its pressures for fans and players.
So there’s no doubt the Rangers players know after the performance at Celtic Park that they need to give their fans something back.
“Tavernier’s goalscoring record for Gers is incredible. He’s come up with an amazing number of big goals.
“But it’s been the defensive side that’s been the issue, and it’s been highlighted over the last few Old Firm games where he’s been found wanting defensively.
“He’s had problems with Maeda, but with the attributes he possesses it’s going to be difficult to play against him. Especially as Tavernier is a player who wants to get forward.
