Celtic starlet Ben Quinn could land himself a move to Mansfield Town after starring during a prolific trial.

 

The tricky winger, 19, has spent the last couple of weeks training with the EFL League One side at their pre-season camp in Portugal. And the Dublin-born teenager has caught the eye of manager Nigel Clough by netting three goals in as many friendly games. Quinin found the net in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea Under-21s, and was also on the scoresheet against minnows Hucknall and Retford.

The youngster – who is the nephew of current Stags midfielder Stephen Quinn – is under contract at Parkhead for another 12 months and has played a key role for Celtic’s B team. But the attacker has done himself no harm in earning a move to England by shining on trial with Mansfield Town.

Boss Clough is now weighing up a move for the Republic of Ireland youth international who has scored 22 goals in the last two seasons in the Lowland League. He said: “I am very pleased with him,” he told The Chad. “He has done well in the last couple of weeks – that is why we have brought him out here. We will see what the situation is with him.”
