BREAKING NEWS;John Textor confirm Abel Ferreira as the replacement of Sean Dyche few minutes ago
Prospective Everton owner and takeover bidder John Textor wants to bring in a new manager to replace Toffees boss Sean Dyche if he wins control of the club, according to the Sun.
The American businessman is close to completing his purchase of the Goodison Park club, and he is eyeing Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira or his AC Milan counterpart Paulo Fonseca.
Textor is set to dispose of his Crystal Palace shares and will look to take Everton to the next level by bringing in a new manager having been the major force behind the appointment of Oliver Glasner in February.
Getting Ferreira, 45, could be easier for the soon-to-be Toffees owner as he owns Brazilian club Botafogo and watched the Portuguese manager help rivals Palmeiras win the Brazilian Serie A last year and in 2022, while they have also won two Copa Libertadores (South America’s equivalent of the Champions League) under him.
Botafogo are currently top of the table after 25 games, with three points separating them from third-placed Palmeiras ahead of the final 13 games, and Textor will be hoping to see Everton challenge at the top end of the table in the coming seasons.
Ferreira is under contract until December 2025 and would cost compensation, but that will not put off Textor who could look to land Fonseca if a deal can be struck.
The 51-year-old joined Milan in June after leaving Lille, signing a three-year deal, and whether he is willing to leave a club currently playing in the Champions League for one bottom of the Premier League remains to be seen.
The Portuguese won three Ukrainian Premier League titles and three Ukrainian Cups with Shakhtar Donetsk, while he won one Portuguese Super Cup with Porto and the Portuguese Cup with Braga.
