Jurgen Klopp returns to Dortmund! Ex-Liverpool coach is all smiles as he prepares to take charge of first game since Anfield exit
Jurgen Klopp is set to return to the touchline for Borussia Dortmund for Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski’s testimonial match.
Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager in May after a remarkable nine-year tenure that saw the club win Champions League and Premier League titles. The German has been enjoying his time off, saying when he made his announcement at the beginning of the year that he needed a break. Klopp will now manage his first game in months when he returns to the touchline at the Signal Iduna Park.
At Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, Klopp will serve as the manager for a testimonial for Piszczek and Blaszczykowski. Both Polish players left their imprint on Dortmund, and between 2008 and 2015, while Klopp managed the German powerhouses, they were both influential personalities in the dressing room. Under Klopp, they were a part of Dortmund’s 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga winning squads.
Mats Hummels, who left Die Schwarzgelben this summer on a free transfer to join Serie A club Roma, will make a farewell appearance at the Signal Iduna, and current Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin will be one of the players in the game.
Team Blaszczykowski and Team Piszczek will take on each other at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, September 7 with Klopp managing the winger’s team.
