Breaking News:Sam Lammers on verge of £2m Rangers exit as teammate tells Clement he wants out

Rangers striker Sam Lammers is close to a £2m move home to the Netherlands from Rangers, according to MailOnline.

As reported by George Grant [24 July], Lammers is set to return to the Eredivisie with FC Twente, putting an end to a frustrating stint at Ibrox.

Meanwhile, Todd Cantwell has requested for a second time to leave the club and will no longer participate with Philippe Clement’s first-team squad, whilst the Belgian boss has also allowed Connor Goldson to enter into discussions with Cypriot club Aris Limassol as a transfer is soon expected to go through.

Rangers must sell before buying

With Rangers needing to raise funds before significantly investing back into the squad, Clement is keen to get departures over the line and is fully cooperative with interested clubs.

Goldson, for instance, was set to play in the Light Blues’ recent pre-season match with Birmingham City but was allowed to miss the game to hold talks with Aris; Cantwell will train away from the first team with Clement having no time to plead a case for the Englishman to stay.

Lammers, a Michael Beale recruit, has been far from a success in Scotland – there’s no beating around the bush. However, his much more fortunate loan back in the Netherlands last season with Utrecht has shown what he can do in his preferred environment as he prepares for his Twente move.

The lion’s share of the money spent by the Gers this summer has been on the obligation to turn Mohammed Diomande’s loan into a permanent move, spending north of £4m on securing the midfielder.

Hamza Igamane and Jefte have been the other two signings to command a fee by the club, but Clement and Nils Koppen are fully aware of the remainder of the recruitment task for their squad.

In other Rangers news, the club are looking to demand £1m from Aris for Goldson.
