Gary Neville makes Marcus Rashford feelings clear after brutal Ten Hag response vs Liverpool

Gary Neville namechecked Marcus Rashford as a player Erik ten Hag could have taken off against Liverpool after large sections of Old Trafford booed the decision to withdraw Alejandro Garnacho on Sunday’ With Manchester United already 3-0 down to their arch-rivals, the head coach took to the bench to try and shake things up.

Ten Hag had already hooked Casemiro at half-time, replacing him with youngster Toby Collyer, but it was his in-game switch that left supporters unhappy. With 20 minutes to go and little chance of mounting a comeback, Amad was called on try and make a difference.

Neville, who had been scathing of Casemiro’s role in both Liverpool first-half goals, believes that it’s Rashford that many had hoped would make way for Amad instead. “Yeah., no they would’ve chosen someone else,” he said on co-commenrary, explaining the substitution.

I have to say United fans don’t often boo managers, substitutions, players individually. There’s been a couple today, ordinarily they don’t but today, Casemiro in the first half then Rashford.”

Speaking about the Brazilian earlier in the game, Neville said, “Casemiro, for a player of such experience, the amount of times he gives the ball away in bad areas.” The former right-back added: “There’s no pressure around him it’s a first-time ball that he tries. From that moment on, Liverpool have made mistakes in that area but Mohamed Salah is a different class and that cross is delicious.”
