Allowing such departures was made far encouraged given the financial restrictions still at play, but also the buying clubs’ willingness to provide a fair fee on the three separate occasions often left Kevin Thelwell with no choice.

Update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation
Earlier this month, it was revealed the real reason why Dominic Calvert-Lewin would not sign a new Everton contract.
The 27-year-old, who has been a mainstay on Merseyside since joining in 2017, was largely expected to complete the bulk of his career with the Toffees, such is the relationship he has forged with the fanbase over these years.
Scorer of some monumental recent goals, he is a near-irreplaceable asset for Sean Dyche, thus explaining why they are so keen to tie him down.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be tough for Everton to replace
Standing at 6 foot 3, but with electric pace and quick feet too, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a physical marvel, and arguably the perfect Dyche number nine.
A willing runner too who has shown at times throughout his career that he knows where the net is, there is little to dislike about the former Sheffield United man.
Even having endured a truly abhorrent barren spell in front of goal last season, his side still eased to Premier League safety for a change; what he offers to this team is far more than the goals he should have scored.
The perfect statistic to emulate Dyche’s desperation to play him whenever is outlined by FBref, which compares Calvert-Lewin to other strikers across Europe.
