UNEXPECTED RETIREMENT:Philippe Clement confirmed the sudden leave of three key players…
Sky Sports may intervene in the rescheduling of Rangers v St Johnstone as they can only visit Scottish grounds a certain number of times, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported the news via its website (4 September) and stated that due to a clash in dates with the Great Scottish Run, the Gers’ game against the Saints might have to be moved with the clubs thinking about switching their home and away fixtures.
However, as the game in Perth was set to take place in November, Sky would’ve likely wanted to broadcast the game. However, if the fixtures do get swapped, they might not have that option due to broadcasting restrictions.
It means yet more fixture disruption for the Gers, having already been forced to play a number of home games at Hampden Park this season.
Yet another Rangers fixture needs to be rescheduled
The 2024/25 season has been far from smooth for Rangers thus far. The Gers have lost the first Old Firm derby of the season and currently find themselves sat in fourth place.
In addition to these poor results, only one or two of Philippe Clement’s summer transfers have had an impact on the side despite the Belgian spending a fair bit of money on his new arrivals.
To make matters worse, the club haven’t even been able to play at Ibrox due to the delay in the delivery of materials needed for the club to finish off the Copland Road Stand refurbishment [Scottish Sun, 20 June].
Things have just gone from bad to worse and now Clement has pressure upon his head [PLZ Soccer, 2 September] in terms of getting results, it’s hard to see a way out for the club.
The international break is currently upon us which will likely be a welcome relief for Clement and his men as it could give them time to regroup and decide how to best attack the rest of the season.
