30-goal striker suffers devastating blow just days after Nottingham Forest saw bid rejected
Nottingham Forest tried to sign a number of strikers during the summer transfer window but to no avail.
The Reds targeted Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez for a lot of the summer but the player rejected Forest more than once.
Eddie Nketiah was another on the shortlist but he spoke with Oliver Glasner and chose to reject Forest ahead of a move to Crystal Palace instead.
When those two deals had gone south, the club tried to sign Omar Marmoush but he was talked out of a move to Forest by Eintracht Frankfurt.
Another player who was linked with a move to the club was Flamengo striker Pedro.
Forest made a bid of £20 million for the talisman but it ended in disappointment for the Reds as the Brazilian outfit decided the bid wasn’t enough.
Nottingham Forest-linked striker suffers cruel blow
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but for Pedro, he might be wishing that Flamengo had accepted the bid that came from Forest.
Now, it’s been confirmed by Globo that the striker is facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury.
The cruel blow came during a Brazil training session on Wednesday and it’s anticipated that the striker will be out for a considerable amount of time.
It’s claimed in the report that the injury is so severe that there is no chance of Forest reigniting their interest in the player when the January window opens.
Pedro has enjoyed a brilliant 2024, scoring 30 goals in all competitions and has really kicked on after a failed spell in Italy with Fiorentina.
Forest should move on from Pedro
Aside from four games in Italy, Pedro has never played in Europe and at 27-years-old, he’s probably in his prime.
