BREAKING NEWS;Brendan Rodgers announces the departure of Luis Palma few minutes ago
Luis Palma has shared how he is feeling after spending the start of the new season for Celtic on the bench.
The Honduran has struggled to get back into the Celtic starting lineup after recovering from an injury he picked up on the opening day win over Kilmarnock.
Now fully fit, Palma is looking to win his place back but the form of Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and James Forrest have presented the Honduran with a huge task to do just that.
Palma will be patient for Celtic chance
Palma is the only player from last summer’s signings to have made a success of his move to Celtic. Some blistering early season form saw him become a regular starter in Brendan Rodgers’ team.
But inconsistent form after Christmas saw the 25-year-old spend more time on the bench and that seems to be the recurring theme this season.
However, Palma says he will remain patient and wait for his chance to win his place in the Celtic team whilst on international duty with Honduras.
Palma told the Daily Record [print edition page 44], “I was injured in the first game of the season and you have to take that into account.
“It has taken me a while to get back and my Celtic team-mates are doing really well. I just have to wait for the opportunity.
“I’m now concentrating on the two games for the national team and we are desperate to bounce back because it hurt us not to qualify for the Copa America.
“We have to do well in this tournament and particularly show how strong we are in our home games.
“I’m relishing the opportunity to play for my country again.”
Luis Palma’s Celtic future
Since his big move in 2023, Luis Palma has shown in flashes why Celtic decided to spend over £3m to bring him from Aris in Greece.
