9 Rangers free transfer options after Philippe Clement hinted at open market
Philippe Clement dropped a hint in last week’s presser that it was always part of Rangers‘ plan to use the free agency market.
The boss has always known the club are financially not in the strongest position considering his admission that they’d have to sell before they could buy in the summer window. Still, cash was spent by the club with Nedim Bajrami the latest player to join the club in a move worth around £3.4million.
The issue still stands that reinforcements are needed at Ibrox for the season ahead with last weekend’s Celtic hammering another example of where Clement’s squad falls short.
Freebies are still available for the Belgian to try and convince to Glasgow and the manager explained last week how he’d be willing to consider options if they’d fit his plans. “Yes, we talked about that within the club and that was the initial plan. So we now need to find solutions within the squad to do it in a different way to before,” he said, adding: “Could we still look at free agents? That’s still a possibility, yes.”
Football Scotland, then, has looked at nine possible candidates to do a job with the Light Blues should they be up for the challenge.
The former PSG attacking midfielder was previously linked with Celtic in a £2m report but as Football Scotland revealed at the time, it was never one the Hoops were working on. That wouldn’t stop Gers from moving after the French kid left Sunderland on his first move to Europe. Would suit the attacking style of Rangers with a lot of the ball.
Was previously linked with Rangers and would offer a different dimension than the current players in the side with his combative style. A free after leaving Fulham having trained with their first team.
