BREAKING NEWS:Ao Tanaka has rejected terms and conditions and insisted leaving due to…
Ao Tanaka gave Leeds United fans a taste of what to expect in their home win over Hull City. The Japan international looked a class act in possession after coming off the bench late on at Elland Road.
His progressive passing should give the Whites more creativity in the middle of the park. Tanaka showed in his lively Hull cameo that he is not afraid to take risks on the ball and will look to influence things in the final third.
His maiden United outing came just over 24 hours after joining the Championship club from Fortuna Düsseldorf on deadline day. The German club opted to cash in on Tanaka, who had entered the final year of his contract.
Düsseldorf sporting director Klaus Allofs sporting director said: “The targets we set ourselves in sport have been exceeded. We didn’t actually have to sell Tanaka, we had already realised the transfer surplus we had planned.
“But we’re all in the same boat. We cannot say that one hundred percent of the money from sport is used again in sport. Many things have not yet developed the way we would like. So, we can’t put everything into the team. The fact is that we all act very carefully and do not take any unpleasant risks. The fact is without the sale of Ao, we would not have been able to fill all positions.”
A Rheinische Post report claims that Tanaka was “never” the Whites’ first-choice midfield option. The German news outlet suggests that United manager Daniel Farke had a disagreement with the club’s hierarchy after missing out on other transfer targets, forcing them to turn to Tanaka on deadline day
