Celtic superstar: I think my presence is no longer needed am leaving

Barry Ferguson admits he sensed a bit of FEAR from Rangers the moment Celtic put the ball in the back of the net.

Brendan Rodgers’ men soaked up some early pressure before having a disallowed goal ruled out following a VAR check. Kyogo Furuhashi fired home from a Nicolas Kuhn cross – but the latter was deemed offside in the build-up. Moments later Daizen Maeda would open the scoring and there was no coming back as the champions kicked up a gear with further goals from Kyogo and Callum McGregor capping off a comfortable afternoon for the champions.

Ibrox legend Ferguson was in the stands at Parkhead and he felt the heads go down from the moment that goal was ruled out. It’s something he doesn’t like, while he also believes Celtic duo Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston didn’t break sweat defensively. Rabbi Matondo and Vaclav Cerny’s key attribute is pace according to the Go Radio pundit, and they never once tested the Hoops duo by taking them in behind and running them towards their own goal.

Summing up the derby day defeat, Ferguson explained: “I felt once that goal got disallowed that the heads went down and there was a bit of fear. I don’t like to see that. Going on the two wide players, when I was watching them. Make the defenders defend.

“I thought Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor had such an easy afternoon. I don’t think they broke sweat and what [Rabbi] Matondo and [Vaclav] Cerny have got, their biggest asset is pace. Take them in behind. What a defender hates doing is running back towards his goal. I never seen it. They never got tested.

“I’ve have suffered a big defeat against Celtic and a few other defeats. Go down fighting. I didn’t see it yesterday. I just felt that they felt sorry for themselves. Sometimes you get goals against you, just get up and shake yourself off. It’s part and parcel of football.
