Artur Boruc says Brendan Rodgers made a signing ‘as close to perfect’ as Celtic could get this summer
Now that the transfer window is closed and Brendan Rodgers has his Celtic team to see him through to January, Artuc Boruc thinks the Hoops boss his singed a winner this summer.
Rodgers was a busy man on transfer deadline day as he sealed three signings to help bolster his Celtic team for the upcoming season and now that the squad is locked in, Artur Boruc believes the Irishman has done a great job in replacing retired former Celtic hero, Joe Hart.
The Celtic boss signed Viljami Sinisalo and Kasper Schmeichel as Rodgers made a short term fix with Schmeichel and put in a long term plan with Sinisalo.
Schmeichel is Celtic’s ‘perfect’ signing
Boruc has picked out Kasper Schmeichel as the one signing that will drive Celtic to more success this season as Boruc thinks the Dane’s experience will be important for Rodgers.
Boruc told The Sunday Post [print edition page 76], “It was going to be an interesting choice and one that everybody was focused on.
“To get Kasper in is a great signing. It is as close to perfect as you could get.
“He has tons and tons of experience. He is a winner and he knows Brendan Rodgers.
“I’m pretty sure he was at Falkirk for a year on loan in 2007 when I was at Celtic and he saved a penalty when Falkirk beat us 1-0 at their stadium.
“He went on to have a brilliant career and won the title with Leicester City.
“Now he has a chance to win another title and I’m sure he will with Celtic.”
Schmeichel ‘will help to lead’ Celtic to victory over Rangers
With Brendan Rodgers set to welcome Rangers to Celtic Park this afternoon, Boruc believes Schmeichel will be pivotal in helping the Hoops boss get a positive result.
Boruc contiued, “There is also Champions League football to look forward to. He is 37 but he will be feeling brilliant about playing for Celtic and he can play there for three years.
“Before that, of course, there is the game against Rangers. The Glasgow derby is a special fixture and I’m sure Kasper is the type of guy who will relish every second.
“He will be calm and composed and will help to lead the team in this fixture.
“It will be massive, as they always are, and I hope to see Celtic come away with the three points.”
Although he has not really been called into action yet, many Celtic fans are already impressed with what they have saw from Schmeichel.
