Exclusive: Todd Cantwell completes Blackburn medical after Rangers agree deal

Todd Cantwell underwent a medical on Thursday night (29 August) ahead of a move from Rangers to Blackburn, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the deal is now all but done ahead of the transfer deadline at 11pm on Friday (30 August).

Sources say Blackburn will pay a fee of around £1million to land the attacking midfielder.

The 26-year-old has been seeking a move away from Ibrox all summer after handing in an official transfer request.

Blackburn have handed Cantwell a route back to English football after his exit from Norwich in January 2023.

He has been training away from the first-team squad at Rangers and has not been involved in any of their fixtures in the new season.

Cantwell made 64 appearances during his time with the Glasgow giants, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists.

The midfielder is an experienced operator in the Championship, notching seven goals and nine assists in 86 appearances for Norwich and Bournemouth.

He has also played 45 times in the Premier League with the Canaries.

Blackburn have picked up seven points from their first three Championship games and sit third in the table.

The Lancashire club, who face Burnley in a derby clash on Saturday (31 August), have made eight signings so far this summer.
