Leeds have now confirmed the arrival of midfielder Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Dusseldorf, signing a four-year deal to bolster Daniel Farkeβs midfield options.
The deal to see Tanaka move to Elland Road sees the Whites pay a reported Β£3.4million fee β perΒ Sky SportsΒ β a significant coup for the Japan international.
Tanaka managed eight goals and four assists for Fortuna last season as they came agonisingly close to promotion to the Bundesliga via the playoffs.
Leeds needed a midfielder who is comfortable in all phases of play, ranging from deep to on the edge of the opposition box.
Tanaka is just that player, looking confident in a variety of areas, as well as having the quality needed in the final third too to chip in with goals.
At the price heβs costing, itβs a bargain deal for Leeds to have come up with and it should have a significant impact on our midfield setup too.
Daniel Farke will be reasonably pleased with how the summer window has ended up unfolding, given the circumstances of release clauses in key playersβ contracts.
