HEARTBREAKING REPORT:Everton fc announced a new ownership few minutes ago..

Everton have some bad news coming their way on transfer deadline day.

The Toffees have had a difficult window so far, but they have signed a few players. Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam have arrived on permanent deals, while Jasper Lindstrom has joined on loan from Napoli.

Sean Dyche, however, could do with more before the window shuts, and Everton remain active on deadline day.

However, one player they enquired about signing is off to another club, says Fabrizio Romano.

Everton miss out on Sofyan Amrabat because of Jose Mourinho

Everton are keen to further strengthen their midfield this summer.

Iroegbunam and Lindstrom have both arrived, but the Merseysiders are still looking around for a new man in the middle of the park after losing Amadou Onana to Aston Villa.

The Toffees have been linked with quite a few names over the last few weeks and one of them is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

The Morocco international, who was ‘outstanding at the World Cup‘ in 2022, spent last season on loan at Manchester United, but he was available for a transfer after the Red Devils decided against signing him.

Romano revealed earlier in August that Everton enquired about signing Amrabat, but it looks like they have missed out now.

The journalist has delivered his trademark ‘here we go’ to signal that Amrabat is about to join Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, initially on a loan that will be made permanent in 2025.

Romano tweeted: “Sofyan Amrabat to Fenerbahce, here we go! Deal in place between the two clubs.

“Fiorentina to receive €2m loan fee, €13m obligation to buy and €3m add-ons. Four-year contract for Amrabat, travel and private flight booked.”

Everton transfers that could happen on deadline day

It is going to be a busy day for many clubs in the Premier League today.

Amrabat is no longer an option for the Toffees, but Dyche’s side are trying to sign a defender who played in the Premier League last term.

Everton are in talks with Rennes over a deal for Lorenz Assignon, who spent a season on loan under Vincent Kompany in the 2023/24 season.

Neal Maupay is on his way to Marseille, while their other striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin could depart as well if the right offer arrives.

There are usually a few surprises on deadline day. It remains to be seen if the Toffees will be involved in one in the coming hours.
